Environmental Challenges in Palestine and the Peace Process

Posted in 1996 Papers

Positioned at the crossroads of three continents, geographic Palestine is a tiny piece of land rich with biodiversity, fertile agricultural fields, and varied ecological systems. The preservation of this unique environmental interplay is a responsibility which lies equally upon the people of Palestine, as well as its occupiers. In recent years, however, attention has focused far more on conflicting political claims to the land than to its preservation and sustainable development. The paper discusses the geopolitical integrity of the Palestinian Territory including Areas A, B and C, bypass roads, and Israeli colonies. It also covers the topics of a dry peace, Jerusalem, and the next steps to make.
